Sight-reading worksheets that feel musical
Each exercise is built in a supported major key with repeated melodic ideas, mostly stepwise motion, controlled leaps, and phrase endings on stable scale degrees. The result is useful reading practice rather than a stream of unrelated random pitches.
Choose a practical written range
Instrument profiles start with a conservative comfortable range and the clef normally used for that written part. You can narrow the range for a student or choose Custom Range. B-flat clarinet and trumpet worksheets use written pitch, so players read the notes expected for their instrument.
Set rhythm and difficulty deliberately
Beginner exercises use notes, smaller melodic movement, and a high proportion of steps. Intermediate exercises allow wider motion and rests. Every measure is checked to fill the selected time signature exactly.
How to practice effectively
Scan the key, meter, first note, and rhythmic patterns before playing. Keep a steady pulse, continue through small mistakes, and repeat the same seed later to measure improvement. Read our sight-reading practice guide, browse interactive drills, or create a free account for structured daily practice.
Frequently asked questions
Can I regenerate the same worksheet?
Yes. Keep the displayed seed and select Reproduce seed. The same normalized settings and seed produce the same exercises.
Are the PDFs free to print?
Yes. Generate up to 20 exercises at a time and download an A4 or US Letter vector PDF. Every page includes DailyMusicDrills branding.
Are transposing instruments shown at concert pitch?
No. B-flat clarinet and trumpet are generated at written pitch, matching the notes the player sees in an instrumental part.
